A suburban dad says the coach of a youth baseball team on Sunday made a rude comment to his son, who plays catcher for a Grant Township team.
There doesn't seem to be any argument about that, but from that point on, the facts get a little foggy. It's a he said/he said tale -- a variation on a recurring theme in Little League and kids' sports.
Police say the father of the boy, 42-year-old Scott Knudsvig, of Bristol, Wis., punched the coach and shoved him, breaking the man's glasses and causing swelling and abrasions, the Sun-Times reports.
"I didn't see the guy's glasses," Knudsvig said. "I swung at him. but I don't know if I hit him."
In fact, Knudsvig claims he merely pushed the other man.
"Then I was assaulted by about 10 other parents who tackled me and took me down," the accused man said. "I have marks all over my chest."
Police said just one parent stepped in to break things up, and Knudsvig is now charged with battery and criminal damage to property.
