Cubs' Season Ticket Prices Set to Skyrocket in 2017

The Chicago Cubs won their first World Series title in 108 years in 2016, and as a result fans with season tickets are going to have to open their wallets a lot wider next year.

The Cubs announced Monday that the average season ticket price will climb by a staggering 19.5 percent next season. The ticket price increases will be especially high for club box infield seats, which will go up by 31 percent.

According to the Chicago Tribune, the most expensive premium seat in the ballpark will cost $409, with the home opener and games against the New York Yankees and St. Louis Cardinals getting the "diamond" designation on the team's ticket plan.

Colin Faulkner, the Cubs senior VP of sales and partnerships, issued a statement detailing the team's reasoning behind the significant increases.

"Trying to capture that demand and continue the progress on the field, and (with) our mission to field a consistently competitive team, no surprise, we'll be increasing season ticket prices," he said.
