Cubs Boost Attendance By Over 300K in 2015 Season

The Chicago Cubs are back in the playoffs for the first time in eight seasons, and the increased excitement around Wrigley Field is reflected in a big boost in the team’s attendance.

The Cubs recorded a big crowd on Monday night when they played the Kansas City Royals in their regular season home finale, drawing 40,552 fans to the Friendly Confines. That crowd brings their season total to just shy of three million, with 2,959,812 fans making their way through the Wrigley Field turnstiles in 81 home games.

That number represents an increase of over 300,000 fans from the 2014 season, with 307,699 more Cubs fans attending games in the 2015 campaign.

The total represents a good increase for the team, but it falls short of their all-time record for attendance in a season, as 3,300,200 fans came to Wrigley Field during the 2008 season in the midst of an eight-year streak of drawing over three million fans to the historic ballpark.
