Could The Bulls Trade For Amare Stoudemire?
Theoretically, yes, they could, and it makes us all tingly inside

Earlier this week, rumors surrounding Suns forward Amare Stoudemire took off. The rumors: That Suns GM Steve Kerr was determined to blow up the team as currently assembled, that he was looking to acquire some young players and -- more importantly -- some cap room for 2009-10, and that Stoudemire would likely be the biggest bargaining chip in the Suns' arsenal.
Of course, those desires sound exactly like what the Bulls have to offer. It's not secret John Paxson is trying to do something, anything, with the current motley assemblage of talent. Here's where it gets fun. The Bulls could trade for Amare Stoudemire! Derrick Rose plus Stoudemire equals really exciting basketball in Chicago for years to come! We're being slightly sarcastic, but we admit it: We're tickled by the very notion. We love Amare Stoudemire.
The one problem is convincing the Suns to take anything the Bulls have to offer. The Arizona Republic's Paul Coro floats Drew Gooden as the first name on his list of players the Suns might want to base a deal around. We're going to pretend Drew Gooden isn't Drew Gooden for a minute and just assume that works. The next issue is extending Stoudemire and throwing all your chips in on a guy who not that long ago had microfracture surgery on his knee. It's not all fun and games here.
It may be incredibly far from reality, but this is what NBA trade rumors are all about. It's a mixture of hope, excitement, blind faith, and delusion. If it means dreaming on Amare, we'll take a healthy dose of all four.
