Chicago Bears Re-Sign Dante Rosario to 1-Year Contract

The tight end has 17 catches in two seasons with the Bears

The Chicago Bears re-signed tight end Dante Rosario to a one-year contract Thursday afternoon, keeping yet another piece in place in the midst of a roster shakeup.

Rosario, who was acquired by the Bears in a trade with the Dallas Cowboys before the 2013 season, is primarily used in two-tight end sets, and he is known more for his blocking than his pass catching ability. In 31 games with the Bears, Rosario has 17 receptions for 129 yards.

The Bears could still address the tight end position in the draft, with new offensive coordinator Adam Gase expected to start running more two-tight end sets that require athletic tight ends on both sides of the field. Martellus Bennett has been an excellent player during his time with the Bears, and Rosario being re-signed indicates that there is still a role on the team for him, but they may still be looking for help in that area.
