Blackhawks Remain One of NHL's Most Valuable Franchises

Forbes lists the Blackhawks as the fourth most valuable organization in the entire NHL

The Chicago Blackhawks have been the most successful franchise in the NHL over the past six years, and their good fortunes have translated into a financial windfall for the organization.

That monetary success is reflected in a new ranking by Forbes, which lists the Blackhawks as the fourth most valuable organization in the entire NHL. That ranking is the same as the one they got last season from the venerable financial magazine, but the numbers are where things get really interesting.

According to Forbes, the value of the Blackhawks has gone up significantly over last year, with the team now worth $925 million. That represents an increase of 11 percent over last year’s valuation, with the Hawks worth $100 million more than they were a season ago.

The team’s revenue also took a jump up in the last year, going up $10 million.

The three teams ahead of the Blackhawks remain the same, but there is a new number one club atop the heap as the New York Rangers have surged ahead of the Toronto Maple Leafs, who dropped all the way to third place after several years in the top spot. The Montreal Canadiens also vaulted past the Leafs to finish second, and the Boston Bruins finished in fifth place on the list.
