The NHL Players Association has filed a grievance against the Blackhawks over a contract filing error with Kris Versteeg and Cam Barker.

That means Versteeg and Barker could go from being restricted to unrestricted free agents.

If that happens, Versteeg and Barker could sign with any team in the league, and there is nothing the Hawks could do about it.

The Hawks did re-sign five free agents on Monday.  Troy Brouwer and Corey Crawford got two-year contracts, and Ben Eager, Colin Fraser and Aaron Johnson got one-year deals, NHL.com reported.
