State Sen. Schoenberg Won't Run for Re-Election

Evanston Democrat says he's going to work with Pritzker Family

After 22 years, Democratic state Sen. Jeff Schoenberg said Tuesday he's retiring from the Illinois Legislature.

Schoenberg made the announcement at the Illinois Capitol. He won't run for reelection in 2012.

Schoenberg says he's going to expand his job helping the wealthy Pritzker family manage its philanthropy in the area of early childhood development.

The Evanston Democrat was first elected to the Illinois House in 1990 when he was 30. He was elected to the Illinois Senate in 2003.
