Oglesby Released After Posting Bond

Former aide to County Board President Todd Stroger was arrested Monday on corruption charges

Cook County Board President Todd Stroger's Deputy Chief of Staff, fired amid corruption charges, posted bail and was released from the Cook County Jail Thursday afternoon.

Carla Ogelsby posted $25,000 cash bail on charges of theft, money laundering and official misconduct.  In advance of her release, Oglesby made a court appearance to ensure that none of the funds used to post her bond came from the money she is accused of stealing from the county.

She walked out of the facility at 27th and California shortly after 3 p.m. without speaking to reporters.

Oglesby, 41, was arrested Monday, accused of awarding a $24,900 county contract to her PR firm. She's been charged with theft of government property, a Class X felony.The State's Attorney says she defrauded the people of Cook County by steering thousands of dollars in contracts to her PR firm.

Stroger asked for and received her resignation on Tuesday.
