It’s a very busy Sunday evening for Chicago election lawyers as they prepare to file objections to the petitions of mayoral candidates Monday.
Tonight, multiple campaign sources have told NBC 5 there will be challenges to numerous candidates, including to the signatures for Illinois Comptroller Susana Mendoza, former police Superintendent Garry McCarthy, former U.S. Attorney Lori Lightfoot, former Obama Chief of Staff Bill Daley, Cook County Circuit Court Clerk Dorothy Brown and State Rep. LaShawn Ford.
Several campaigns have expressed confidence they can withstand challenges, with Daley's campaign telling NBC 5 “we are confident of our signatures.”

Sources tell NBC 5 the campaign of Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle has enlisted more than 200 workers to work around the clock over the last week to examine petitions.
Chicago mayoral candidates need 12,500 valid signatures, and all signees must be registered voters and are only allowed to sign one petition.
A new mobile app is also being used for the first time, helping campaign workers to quickly determine if someone has signed more than one petition and if the resident is a registered voter.
