RUNNING FOR CONGRESS
RANDY HULTGREN (R)

OPPONENT
BILL FOSTER (D)

The Man: Randy Hultgren is the Republican challenger trying to incumbent Bill Foster.

With a background in business and law paired with experience as an Illinois State Senator in the 48th District and the 95th District in the Illinois House, Hultgren's broad-strokes plan is to create jobs, cut taxes, and get the federal government's fiscal house in order.

Hultgren is conservative across the board. He is opposed to raising taxes while supporting limitations on excessive government spending, e.g. TARP.  While Hultgren supports afforable health care, he has gone on record saying he would make changes to the Health Care Bill.  He supports "traditional marriage," and opposes the legalization of marijuana.

The Knock:  A poll over the summer showed Hultgren ahead of his opponent, Bill Foster, by seven points. But in September Hultgren admitted to illegally taking campaign donations, which may adversely affect his campaign. No new poll numbers have been released.

The Strategy: Typically, District 14 has voted conservative, but Hultgren will need to work hard to restore the trust of voters if he wants to stay in the lead.
