Former Deputy State Treasurer looking to replace Dan Hynes

Former Deputy State Treasurer, Raja Krishnamoorthi is now ready to run for state comptroller. Born in Peoria, Krishnamoorthi went from Richwoods High School straight to Princeton University, where he graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering. A law degree came soon after from Harvard Law School.

In 2007, Krishnamoorthi became Deputy State Treasurer. He held the position until April 2009, when he formed an exploratory committee for Illinois Comptroller.

The 36-year-old lawyer worked with Obama’s successful 2004 campaign for the U.S. Senate and the previous unsuccessful 2000 campaign for U.S. House of Representatives.
