Prez Goes Golfing for Father's Day

President hit the green at Beverly Country Club

President Barack Obama is taking it easy this Father's Day. He headed to the golf course Sunday morning.

The presidential motorcade left Hyde Park around 10:15 a.m., heading to the Beverly Country Club, near 87th and Western.

The White House told pool reporters the president was out with Eric Whitaker, Marty Nesbitt and Marvin Nicholson.

The Beverly Country Club is no stranger to political heavyweights. Judges and lawmakers frequent it. A source who often golfs there said just 10 days ago, State Speaker of the House Mike Madigan and Ald. Ed Burke, who are club members, were seen having a drink together in the men's lounge.

Also there on the same day, was former Ald. Ed Vrodylak, who was released from federal prison earlier this year. He was playing golf with friends and joking about his prison time.

The president has said in the past that golfing gives him a rare sense of freedom.  White House reporter Mark Knoller quoted Obama, saying golf helps him to "almost feel normal in the sense that" he's out of the security bubble.
