Post Muzzles “Mouthpiece” After Hillary Joke

Plug pulled on satirical web series following Friday's episode

WASHINGTON -- The Washington Post pulled the plug on its satirical video series "Mouthpiece Theater," the paper reported Wednesday.

The decision followed criticism of a joke about Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton. Following last week's beer summit, "Mouthpiece Theater" ran an episode Friday about which type of beer various politicians might like, intimating that Clinton's favorite would be the Belgian tripel De Dolle Dulle Teve -- or Mad B****.

The staffers who appeared in the series, Washington Sketch columnist Dana Milbank and White House correspondent Chris Cillizza both apologized for the joke.

The series' "summer tryout" began in June and yielded a dozen or so episodes.
