A shooter opened fire at a Bronx house party Sunday, killing a 17-year-old boy who had recently lost his father and injuring two other teenagers, police and family said.

Keshon Porterfield, 17, was shot in the back shortly after 1 a.m., according to the NYPD. He was taken to Montefiore Medical Center, where he was declared dead.

His uncle, the Rev. Franklin Porterfield, said the boy, one of six siblings, had just finished the 11th grade.

"Pray that they find out who did it and we can bring some resolution to this," the pastor said. "This is hard."

Valerie Gooden said her 17-year-old daughter heard shots at the party in Williamsbridge and jumped over a fence to get away. It was only afterward that the girl, Jhonel Barron, realized she'd been hit.

"She said she felt like her foot couldn't take her anymore, so she looked down and she realized she got shot," Gooden said. "It's really crazy. There's just too many guns."

Another 17-year-old, a boy, was shot in the leg. Both teenagers were hospitalized in stable condition.

Witnesses said most of the guests at the party were students at DeWitt Clinton High School.

Police didn't immediately have a description of the shooter and said it wasn't clear why shots were fired. Investigators on the scene retrieved what appeared to be a gun from the front lawn.
