The woman remained in jail Tuesday night on $18,000 bond and is charged with five felony counts

Police in Lufkin, Texas, posted a video Tuesday showing a shoplifting suspect in a police SUV slip off her handcuffs and take the vehicle on a high-speed chase, NBC News reported.

After officers responded to a shoplifting call on Saturday, Toscha Fay Sponsler was handcuffed and buckled into the back of a patrol car, police said in a statement. Police video shows the woman remove her cuffs and belt and climb into the driver's seat.

Sponsler led officers on a 23-minute chase, with speeds hitting 100 mph, police said. After making a hard turn, Sponslerlost control of the vehicle and came to a stop.

Sponsler remained in jail Tuesday night on $18,000 bond and is charged with five felony counts of escape with the threat of a deadly weapon, aggravated assault, unauthorized use of a vehicle, possession of a controlled substance and evading arrest, according to jail records.
