NJ Mother Stashed Vodka in Baby's Stroller: Police

Police say they responded to a report of an unattended stroller and later found vodka in it

A New Jersey woman is facing criminal charges after she was found allegedly intoxicated and carrying liquor and beer in her baby's stroller.

Police say they responded to a report of an unattended stroller outside the Golden China restaurant in New Milford Wednesday night. They say they found 26-year-old Ashley Scola of Hawthorne preparing to leave the restaurant. Police tell The Record Scola's speech appeared slurred and there was an odor of alcohol on her breath.

Officers later allegedly found a sealed bottle of vodka in her purse in the baby's stroller and empty beer cans in a bag underneath.

The newspaper reported Scola was charged with child endangerment and was being held Friday in lieu of $50,000 bail. It wasn't known if she'd retained an attorney.
