Lawsuit Settlement May Mean Cash for Those Who Got Phone Call Promising Free Cruise

A settlement in the case, Carvat v. Resort Marketing Group, Inc. et al, created a fund of between $7 and 12.5 million to pay for claims, attorneys' fees and expenses and more

If you got an offer over the phone for a free cruise over nearly five years starting in July, a settlement in a lawsuit may entitle you to as much as $900.

That suit claimed a marketing group violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act when the automated calls offering free trips on Carnival, Royal Caribbean or Norwegian Cruise lines were made.

A settlement in the case, Carvat v. Resort Marketing Group, Inc. et al, was announced last week, creating a fund of between $7 and $12.5 million to pay for claims, attorneys' fees and expenses and more. People who received the calls discussed in the settlement can claim up to three per phone number, at $300 in remedy each.

The calls came between July 2009 and March 2014. To see if you are eligible for a payout, click on this link. All claims must be made by November 3.
