More than 1 million pounds of microwaveable Kraft Velveeta Cheesy Skillets are being recalled due to misbranding and undeclared allergens, the USDA announced Sunday.

The recall affects about 1.77 million pounds of 3.3 pound cases containing 9-ounce Kraft Velveeta Cheesy Skillets Singles "Ultimate Cheeseburger Mac," a shelf-stable pasta and ground beef product sold nationwide. They are produced by Truitt Brothers Inc., an East Bernstadt, Ky., establishment.

The products contain hydrolyzed soy protein and dried soy sauce, two known allergens, which are not declared on some labels, according to the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

The affected products have a Use By/Sell By date code of "02 MARCH 2014 – 23 OCT 2014" and were produced between May 6, 2013 and Jan. 16, 2014.

Identifying case codes are:

  • 00210000432900
  • 00210000432910
  • 00210000432925
  • 00210000464000
  • 00210000465100

Officials believe the problem occurred when a supplier inadvertently mixed up the labels with those having incorrect ingredient lines.

No other Velveeta or Kraft products are affected in the recall, officials said.

The FSIS and the company has not received reports of adverse reactions due to the consumption of the products, and anyone concerned should contact a health care provider.
