Man, 71, Beaten to Death in Nursing Home Fight Over Privacy Curtain

A nursing home resident is accused of bashing his 71-year-old roommate in the head with the footrest of a wheelchair, killing him in a fight over a privacy curtain, a source tells NBC 4 New York.

A nurse walked in on the fight overnight Wednesday at the Beacon Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Queens and found the man unconscious.

His 66-year-old roommate allegedly told the nurse, "I just killed him," according to a law enforcement official.

The pair had been fighting about the curtain that separated their beds, the official said.

Police said the victim was pronounced dead at a hospital, and his roommate was taken into custody.

The roommate is charged with second-degree murder.
