An 8-year-old boy was trampled to death by a cow Saturday in Georgetown, Massachusetts, authorities confirmed.
Police responded around 12:45 p.m. to Jewett Street, where George Carter had been trampled.
The child was taken to Anna Jacques Hospital in Newburyport, where he was pronounced dead.
According to the Essex County District Attorney's Office, Carter was helping his father exercise the family's cattle. They have about 20 that they show at fairs.
At one point, officials say, the cow got spooked and trampled him.
A family friend said Carter was very experienced around the animals.
The DA's office said foul play is not suspected.
