Crash Involving Cattle Closes Northbound I-35W at Western Center

There's no cattle crossing on the Fort Worth freeway -- but that didn't stop a bewildered cow from trotting down the middle of Interstate 35W on Monday, after it got loose amid a truck crash.

A crash involving a cattle truck, a tanker and a sand hauler shut down the northbound lanes of I-35W at Western Center Boulevard in Fort Worth, police said.

Just before noon, an NBC 5 viewer submitted a video to iSee@NBCDFW.com that showed one cow running down the freeway, trailed by braking drivers.

Any loose cattle had been corralled and loaded into trailers by 1 p.m., NBC 5 confirmed.

After rounding up the loose cattle, crews could then begin the work of towing away the three damaged vehicles.

The crash affected all lanes, including both shoulders. Traffic was diverted off of the freeway until the lanes reopened at about 3:30 p.m.

No injuries were reported.
