Patent Shows Apple's Next Earbuds Aimed at Staying in Ears

Apple has patented an earbud design that experts say should actually help keep the product in your ears.

Business Insider discovered that the corporation has been working on this for more than a year, filing a patent in March 2014 for "invertible ear tips for an ear piece." It's a continuation of earlier patents filed in 2008 and 2013, respectively.

While a common consumer complaint of the current earbud design is that they tend to fall out easily, especially during exercise, Ubergizmo noted that the patent's description of a new and flexible outer section that conforms to a user's ear will help keep them in place and should provide a more comfortable experience.

There is no current forecast on when the new headphones might come to market.
