Burglar Wipes Down Door Before Stealing $6K Worth of Jewelry, Checks

The Anaheim Police Department released the video Friday hoping it will lead to the identification and arrest of the burglar.

Footage from a home camera shows a man use his t-shirt to wipe down the door before he steals over $6,000 in property from an Anaheim residences in June.

The Anaheim Police Department released the video Friday hoping it will lead to the identification and arrest of burglar.

The crime occurred in the mid-morning hours sometime in June at a house in the area of Weir Canyon Road and Serrano Avenue, police said.

"The weird thing is, is that they know where to go," said Sherry Bracamontes, a concerned neighbor. "They just go on up and do their thing."

The man, wearing a light blue shirt, a tan/gray baseball cap and jeans, opens the door with his shirt covering his hand. He wipes down the handle and enters the house and goes up the stairs. Minutes later, he's seen walking down the stairs wearing long black gloves and carrying a gray duffle bag.

The burglar stole over $6,000 worth of property from the home, including jewelry, checks and car keys, police said.

"It's a little bit unnerving," Bracamontes said. "We like to think that we're safe here but I'm always cautious with everything."

The burglar is described as a white man, in his mid-to-late 30s, 5-foot-11 and approximately 170 pounds. He has short black hair, a black goatee and tattoos on his left arm.

He was last seen in an older-model, light-colored, four-door BMW with five spoke rims.
