Dallas police say a 9-year-old girl is in critical condition after a shooting on Saturday morning.

Officers took the child's 20-year-old neighbor, Christian Manzano, into custody because he was target shooting in the yard next door. One bullet shattered a kitchen window at a home in the 400 block of West Yarmouth Street and struck the girl.

The girl was taken to Children's Medical Center Dallas for treatment.

Police arrested Manzano and charged him with a second degree felony: injury to a child-serious bodily injury. He is also charged with a misdemeanor: discharging in municipality greater than 100,000 residents.

On Saturday night, Manzano remained booked at the Lew Sterrett Jail in Dallas.
