Man Gets 30 Years for Christmas Tree Lighting Bomb Plot

An Oregon man was sentenced to 30 years in prison on Wednesday for plotting to bomb a Christmas tree-lighting ceremony in Portland's town square in 2010, The Associated Press reported. Mohamed Mohamud, 23, planned to detonate a truck bomb at the popular event, but the bomb was a fake provided by undercover FBI agents posing as al-Qaida recruiters. Jurors rejected Mohamud's entrapment defense at his January 2013 trial.
