Giuliana and Bill Rancic Announce Pregnancy

Baby due in late summer via surrogate mother

A year of challenging health issues appears to be culminating with a lot of joy for Giuliana and Bill Rancic.

The reality show couple and part-time Chicago residents are having a baby. Giuliana Rancic made the announcement Monday morning on the TODAY show.

The 37-year-old entertainment TV host suffered a miscarriage in 2010 and was diagnosed with breast cancer last year, leading to a double masectomy.

A gestational carrier is carrying the baby, which means the baby will have the Rancic's full DNA.

"It was pretty much one of the best moments of my life, if not the best moment of my life," Giuliana Rancic told Ann Curry.

The embryo that resulted in the pregnancy was banked prior to the breast cancer diagnosis, the couple told TODAY.

The baby is due in late summer. The Rancics know the sex of the baby, but are keeping it secret for now.
