Following the Cubs’ win in St. Louis today, excitement is building around Wrigley Field for fans—and police say they’re prepared to handle big crowds if the Cubs clinch the title Thursday.
Jose Bichet flew all the way from Panama.
“I’m so excited, I feel like a little boy, I’ve been taking pictures, I love,” Bichet said.
Ald. Tom Tunney is advising fans not to drive in the area.
“I would say use public transit, Uber or whatever else you wanna do,” he said.
Police will be in uniform and plain clothes patrolling the neighborhood and surrounding bars.
The police department says the officers’ presence is to ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable experience.

“People can expect heavy traffic and crowds and we will have plenty of resources there to get everyone to and from the games,” Anthony Guglielmi, director of communications for Chicago police said in a statement.
“You’ve gotta be respectful, not only for our neighborhood, but to put our city in its best light,” Tunney said.
Tunney said parking constructions might be tightened even more and construction in the area could make the neighborhood feel even more congested than normal.
