Woodstock Officer Airlifted to Hospital After 3-Vehicle Crash

Teen driver cited for failure to yield when turning left

A Woodstock police officer had to be extricated from an unmarked squad car and airlifted to a Rockford hospital after being involved in a three-vehicle crash.

A teen driver was making a left turn from westbound Route 14 onto Dean Street just before 6:30 p.m. Monday when he collided the officer's car, authorities said. The officer then struck another vehicle on Dean Street.

The teen driver and his adult passenger were taken to Centegra Hospital in Woodstock, treated, and released. Their names were not released by late Monday night.

The officer was listed in fair condition, a fire lieutenant said.

McHenry County Sheriff's Deputy Aimee Knop said the juvenile was cited for failure to yield when turning left at an intersection. Everyone was wearing a seat belt, she said, and alcohol and drugs didn't appear to be a factor in the crash.
