Woman Called 911 to Make Boyfriend Propose: Cops

A Northwest Side woman apparently was hoping for an engagement ring to kick off the new year.  Instead, she got handcuffs.

Ana Perez, 40, called 911 on Sunday evening and reported that her boyfriend was attacking her, police said.  But when officers arrived, Perez changed her story.

"She called  911 to scare him and have the police force him to marry her,"  said Grand Central District police Capt. Grand Central District Capt. Ronald Pontecore, who wasn’t at all amused by the woman's antics.

"It puts us in jeopardy and the public. It’s not a good thing," Pontecore said.  "It ticked the officers off."

Perez, of the 1300 block of North Pulaski Road, was placed under arrest and charged with one count of misdemeanor disorderly conduct.

A police report said her boyfriend was in in the midst of breaking up with her when the incident happened.
