Woman, 5-Year-Old Girl Shot on Chicago's Northwest Side

A woman and a 5-year-old girl were shot Saturday while traveling in a car on Chicago's Northwest Side, according to police.

Authorities said the shooting occurred around 7:15 p.m. in the 2300 block of North Laramie Avenue in the city's Belmont Cragin neighborhood.

The girl and the 30-year-old woman were in a car when a blue-colored Honda pulled up next to their vehicle and someone inside opened fire, according to police.

The girl was shot in the left arm, officials said, and taken to Stroger Hospital in stable condition.

The woman sustained a gunshot wound to the left hand and arm and was also taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition, authorities said.

No one is in custody in connection with the shooting, according to police, who continue to investigate.
