Winter Weather Advisory Issued Ahead of Sunday Snow

Up to five inches of snow could fall in parts of Lake and McHenry counties

With more snow on the way to northern Illinois, a Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for a pair of counties.

The advisory will take effect in McHenry and Lake counties at 3 a.m. Sunday morning, and will last through 6 a.m. Monday morning as snow will fall across the area for much of the day.

In LaSalle and DeKalb counties, the advisory will take effect at midnight Saturday night, and will last through midnight Sunday night.

According to the National Weather Service, between two and four inches of snow are expected to fall in the area, and some areas could see up to five inches as the system moves through.

The snow, while not particularly heavy, will be consistent throughout the day, creating the potential for slippery travel conditions on area roadways.
