Sunday was a tough day for the Chicago Cubs as they fell to the Washington Nationals, but catcher Willson Contreras made some history even in defeat.

Contreras, who blasted a pair of home runs in the defeat, is now sitting at 33 long-balls in his MLB career, and according to ESPN Stats and Info, he set a new record in the process:

According to the website, Contreras has eclipsed Miguel Cabrera among Venezuelan-born players on the home run list through their first 175 career games. The catcher’s 33 edged past Cabrera’s 32, and vaulted him into the top spot.

Contreras has been on an absolute tear in the second half of the season, blasting eight home runs and driving in 27 RBI since the All-Star break. He has posted a ridiculous 1.126 OPS in that time, and has a .410 on-base percentage as he’s been carrying the Cubs’ offense.
