Dodgers Seal Home Field Advantage Throughout NL Playoffs

The Chicago Cubs will look to punch their ticket into the postseason on Wednesday night, and they now know who they would play in the first round.

By virtue of the Washington Nationals' loss to the Philadelphia Phillies and the Los Angeles Dodgers' win over the San Diego Padres, the Cubs will play the Nationals in the National League Division Series if and when they clinch their postseason berth.

With one more win or one more Milwaukee Brewers loss, the Cubs will punch their ticket into the postseason, becoming the fourth National League team to clinch a spot.

Chicago Cubs' 2017 Push for the Playoffs

There are currently two unclaimed playoff spots in the National League, as the Central title is still up for grabs and the second wild card spot has yet to be decided. The Cubs' magic number to clinch the Central is just one, while the Colorado Rockies are within striking distance of the wild card berth.

If the Rockies clinch, they will play the Arizona Diamondbacks in the National League wild card game in Phoenix next week. The winner of that game will move on to the NLDS to take on the Dodgers in Los Angeles beginning next Friday night.
