White Sox Congratulate Cubs on National League Championship

The Chicago White Sox and Chicago Cubs aren’t exactly best of pals, on or off the baseball field, but that didn’t stop the South Siders from making a very kind gesture toward their North Side rivals over the weekend.

On Saturday night, the Cubs clinched their first World Series berth since 1945 with a 5-0 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers. After that triumph, the White Sox not only congratulated the Cubs on Twitter for their achievement, but they also used the billboard outside of U.S. Cellular Field to extend their congratulations. [[398551441, C]]

This isn’t the first time this year that the White Sox have given a shoutout to the Cubs on their billboard, which faces the Dan Ryan Expressway. When the Cubs clinched the Central Division title in September, the White Sox gave them kudos for the achievement, which was their first in eight seasons.

The Cubs have also reciprocated that love for their South Side rivals, as they placed a congratulatory “Congratulations Chicago White Sox” message on the iconic Wrigley Field marquee after the 2005 World Series championship for the White Sox.

The Cubs also responded to the White Sox on Twitter, showing their appreciation for the South Siders' classy move. [[398551661, C]]
