No Injuries in Fire at Wheeling High School

No injuries were reported Tuesday afternoon following a fire at Wheeling High School.

Officials said it appeared roofing materials caught fire in a garbage bin near the school, at Elmhurt and Hintz roads, in the northwest suburb.

A photo shared online by Twitter user Grant Weber showed a tall, black plume of smoke rising into the sky.

According to the school's online calendar, incoming freshman were scheduled to pick up their iPads while parents attend an orientation. Freshman orientation was scheduled for Thursday.
