Warrant Issued in Burger King Shooting

Police found Shawntrell Haynes, 29, dead in the parking lot of far north suburban restaurant on Thursday

The Waukegan Police Department on Friday issued an arrest warrant for a man wanted in connection with a shooting at a north suburban Burger King a day earlier.

Police said they found Shawntrell Haynes, 29, dead at the scene with a gunshot wound to the head at the restaurant at 3140 Belvidere Rd. in Waukegan.

During the investigation, officers were told the shooting stemmed from some sort of argument and that the shooter fled in a green GMC van. The incident did not appear to be gang related, officials said.

Detectives say they believe the shooter is Edson Silva, 27. A warrant for his arrest has been issued.

According to a release from the Waukegan Police Department, Haynes and Silva knew each other and met regularly in the parking lot.

Police said Silva is to be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who comes into contact with him should notify police immediately.
