A Chicago Group Wants You to Tell Amazon Your Favorite Pizza Restaurant—Here's Why

Local group The People's Pitch is behind the voting to court Amazon

Got a favorite Chicago pizza joint? Park? Museum?

A local Chicago group wants you to let Amazon know.

Voting has begun for the spots in the “Ultimate Amazon Guide to Chicago,” which is being put together by a local group, the People’s Pitch, in an attempt to woo Amazon into picking Chicago as the location of its much-desired second headquarters.

Locals can vote for their favorites in the following categories: culture and entertainment; eat, treat and drinks; neighborhood pride; transportation; education; parks and rec; morning radio or television.

Voting will continue through March 23. The People’s Pitch will then unveil the complete “Ultimate Amazon Guide to Chicago” March 26, according to a press release.

"Chicago is a city of neighborhoods and this contest is a great opportunity for residents to highlight their local favorites and help Amazon become a true local," Jaime DiPaulo, executive director of the Little Village Chamber of Commerce, said in the release.

This latest effort comes after Amazon in January narrowed its list of potential cities for the headquarters to 20—including Chicago. The headquarters project promises $5 billion in construction funds and the creation of 50,000 jobs in whichever city the online retail giant picks.

The People’s Pitch is made up of 18 local public affairs and communications firms.

“Chicago is a city of neighborhoods and this contest is a great opportunity for residents to highlight their local favorites and help Amazon become a true local,” said Jaime DiPaulo, executive director of the Little Village Chamber of Commerce.
