Chicago Museum Ranked 2nd Best in World By Travel Site

A Chicago museum has taken second place in a ranking of the nation’s—and the world’s—best museums according to a news release from TripAdvisor.

The Art Institute of Chicago took second place in both national and international rankings of the Traveler’s Choice Museums awards, falling short to The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

“From awe-inspiring art galleries to thought-provoking memorials, Travelers’ Choice Museums provide enlightening experiences whether a traveler is visiting for the first time or the fiftieth,” said Barbara Messing, chief marketing officer for TripAdvisor, in the release. “Travelers planning to go to one of these top museums can save valuable time and have a better experience by booking special access tours or skip-the-line passes on TripAdvisor before they go.”

The awards were determined using an algorithm that sifted through reviews and ratings of museums all over the world over a year’s time.

Trip Advisor says the reason to visit the Art Institute of Chicago now is its recently-opened exhibit “Master Drawings Unveiled: 25 Years of Major Acquisitions” which is on display through January. It showcases a wide range of 17th to mid-20th century drawings from well-known artists like Edgar Degas and Grant Wood.

Admission prices range from $25 for adults and seniors, $19 for teens and free admission for children under 14.
