Teen Charged in Fatal Hit-and-Run on Chicago's North Side

A 15-year-old boy was arrested Monday and charged with multiple felonies in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash on Chicago's North Side the night before, according to police.

The teen walked into a Chicago police station with a parent and turned himself in at around 9:30 a.m. Monday, officials said.

He was behind the wheel of a silver Dodge Charger at about 5:30 p.m. Sunday when it struck a 67-year-old man who was standing with a bicycle on the southeast street corner in the 3300 block of West Devon Ave. and McCormick Blvd. in the Pulaski Park neighborhood, according to Chicago police.

The 67-year-old was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, where he was pronounced dead, according to police. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office did not immediately release details about the fatality.

The teen continued driving east on Devon Avenue, with extensive front-end damage to the Charger, officials said.

He was charged with one count each of failure to report an accident or death, reckless homicide with a motor vehicle and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in injury or death - all felonies, according to police.
