Trapeze Burlesque Coming to South Loop?

A high wire act may be bringing high dollars to new mall Block 37.

Amidst a prolonged retail slump that's seen high-profile clients like David Barton Gyms and Apple reverse their occupancy plans, a San Francisco-based burlesque circus show has shown strong interest in leasing part of Block 37's top floor.

Teatro ZanZinni bills itself as a "bewitching evening of European Cabaret and Cirque, Divas and Madmen, Spectacle and Sensuality with Live Music and a Gourmet Five-Course Dinner."

The troupe performs in massive, circus-style tents and charges $145 per event.

The company's currently trying to figure out how they'd erect tents in the indoor space, says Crain's.

National cosmetics peddler Sephora is also interested, and is wrapping up a deal for a street-level store. Bringing Teatro and Sephore in would replace most of the 37,000 square feet that David Burton Gyms originally intended to occupy.
