Slain CHA Officer Laid to Rest

Funeral services were held Saturday morning for former Chicago Housing Authority officer Stephen Peters.

Peters' and Chicago police officer Michael Flisk, were gunned down last week while Flisk was working the crime scene after a burglary involving Peters' 2008 Mustang.

The memorial service was held at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, followed by a burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetary in Alsip.

"He loved his Mustang, he love people, he really did," said Lyndell Loster, who used to work with Peters. "He touched everybody. He was genuinely a super person."

Peters' death is especially hard for his former partner, Officer Damon Riggins.

"He was a policeman's policeman. He was a military policeman," Riggins said. "We lost a good one this year."

Peters, 44, was recently remarried and had a teenage son and two adult step-sons.

A 19-year-old parolee is charged with killing the two men.
