Star Plaza Theatre's Run Over After Final Show Sunday

The iconic Star Plaza Theatre in Northwest Indiana played host to its very last show on Sunday night, as the Oak Ridge Boys closed out the landmark venue.

Earlier this year, White Lodging announced that they would tear down the venue in the summer of 2018.

The 3400 seat theater has played host to countless major acts, including musical artists like Bob Dylan, Christina Aguilera, and Whitney Houston. Comedians like Ellen DeGeneres, Jerry Seinfeld, and Richard Pryor also had appearances there.

The company that owns the venue announced in August 2016 that they planned to tear the structure down, but cancelled those plans after a public outcry.

In June, the company once again changed course, saying that they will tear down the building that has stood for nearly 40 years near the intersection of Interstate 65 and U.S. 30.

According to the Northwest Indiana Times, the theater and the Twin Towers, a pair of glass office buildings, will all be torn down next summer.
