Hosts, Musical Acts Announced for NBC 5's Chi-Town Rising Broadcast

Returning for its second year as Chicago's largest New Year's Eve celebration, Chi-Town Rising will have a full slate of hosts and musical talent headlining the event, organizers announced Wednesday.

American Indie Pop band Saint Motel and Chicago’s award-winning hip-hop artist Sir the Baptist will anchor a more Chicago-centric event lineup of talent and hosts.

Sheinelle Jones of NBC News’ Weekend TODAY and NBC 5's own Siafa Lewis will serve as the host talent, with Kye Martin, Alicia Roman, Marley Kayden and Byron Miranda as co-hosts of the bash featuring music performances, a midnight countdown with a more than 70-foot rising Chicago star and an epic fireworks display.

The NBC 5 broadcast, airing on over 40 NBC affiliates in the central United States and streaming on TV Everywhere on the NBC Chicago app, begins at 11:08 p.m.

Penelope Menchaca of Telemundo’s 12 Corazones and Telemundo Chicago’s Maria Elena Ponticiello return as the host talent for Telemundo Chicago, accompanied by Lily Fragoso, Veronica Cruz and David Miranda as co-hosts.

Returning from Chi-Town Rising’s inaugural year, Chicago music talent and nightlife veteran DJ Sye Young will spin throughout the evening between musical performances starting at 8 p.m. on the event’s Countdown Stage on Upper Wacker Drive. Fan favorite Jim Cornelison will host the Countdown Stage, and perform his signature song as America’s "anthem singer."
