Sexual Predator Found Hiding in Secret Room Gets 53 Years in Prison

Shawn Lipsey was convicted last November of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and indecent solicitation of a child

A convicted sexual predator found last week hiding in a secret room in a house in Kendall County was sentenced to 53 years in prison Thursday.

Shawn Lipsey, 40, was sentenced by Judge Timothy McCann to 53 years in prison for repeated sexual assault of a child.

Authorities issued a warrant for Lipsey, on Jan. 13 after he failed to appear for a sentencing hearing at the Kendall County courthouse, Kendall County sheriff’s police said in a statement.

Lipsey had been convicted last November of six counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and two counts of indecent solicitation of a child, police said.

He was found last week in Newark, Ill., in a specially constructed hidden room, police said. Lipsey's wife, 40-year-old Raissa Jarosz-Lipsey, lived in the house and was subsequently charged with obstructing justice, concealing or aiding a fugitive, and filing a false police report.
