Ryder Cup Ball Stolen from Mag Mile

Balls are intended to be auctioned for charity

All that remains is the pedestal.

One of the massive, decorative golf balls along Michigan Avenue, meant to promote this weekend's Ryder Cup, has been stolen.

The tee and ball, designed by artist Jeff Budzban and signed by actress Jenny McCarthy, was reported missing over the weekend, police said.

About 100 of the 5-foot-tall golfballs dot the Mag Mile to celebrate the 39th Ryder Cup. They're intended to remain on display through Oct. 10. They'll then be sold at auction to benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland & Northwest Indiana, as well as the Illinois PGA Foundation.

The missing ball means the charities are out thousands of dollars.

Police are reviewing surveillance video in the area.
