Rob Gronkowski Not on Patriots' Plane to Chicago, Reports Say

Gronkowski was listed as questionable with a back issue

The Chicago Bears could catch a big break on Sunday, as it appears the New England Patriots will be playing without one of their most important players.

According to multiple reports, tight end Rob Gronkowski, who was listed as questionable with a back injury on the Patriots’ final injury report Friday, did not travel with the team to Chicago, and it is unlikely that he will suit up as New England takes on the Bears.

Gronkowski is one of Tom Brady’s primary targets for the Patriots, racking up 26 catches for 405 yards and a touchdown in six games so far this season. He is a matchup nightmare for defenses because of his size, but now it appears the Bears won’t have to game plan for him after all.

A final determination on Gronkowski’s condition likely won’t be announced until Sunday, when the Patriots will turn in their inactive players list.
