Ex-Cop Conspired to Kill Mistress: Police

A former North Chicago cop conspired with his son and another man in the killing of his mistress in River Forest on Monday night, police said.

Authorities said Devin A. Bickham, 39, wanted rid himself of Chervon Alexander, 29, after she began to pressure him to divorce his wife so they could marry.

Bickham, of 12849 Division Street in Blue Island, allegedly drove Alexander to a parking lot near Dominican University River Forest so they could "talk."

According to police, Bickham's son, 20-year-old Devin Bickham, Jr., drove over to the same parking lot in another vehicle with 35-year-old Cardell Taylor. When the two men arrived, Taylor allegedly walked out of his vehicle towards Alexander and shot the woman three times, once each to her head, chest, and shoulder.

Forest Park police caught up with the younger Bickham and Taylor after a witness notified police that their gray vehicle fled eastbound on Division Street. The men were pulled over and taken into custody. A .380 caliber handgun was also recovered.

The ex-cop Bickham was the first person to call 911.

All three men face charges of first-degree murder.
