‘Unknown Substance' in Brownies Sends 7 Proviso West High School Students to Hospital: Cops

A juvenile was taken into custody after authorities responded Friday to a west suburban high school after several students became ill after eating brownies laced with an “unknown substance,” police said.

Hillside fire officials and police officers responded to Proviso West High School after students got sick from eating the brownies that were sold to them by another student, police said. Seven students were taken to area hospitals for observation.

Police found suspected marijuana and arrested a juvenile suspect, authorities said.

No other information was immediately available.
