Two Men Accused of Planning to Kill Prosecutor, Federal Agent

Federal prosecutors say two men have been arrested by the FBI and accused of taking part in a murder plot against an assistant U.S. attorney in Illinois.

The two alleged conspirators were identified in court papers as Frank Caira and Jack Mann. They are also accused of planning the murder of a U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration agent.

According to federal officials, the two men were scheduled to appear Tuesday before U.S. Magistrate Judge Nan Nolan in Chicago on charges of solicitation to commit violence against another person. The two were arrested last week.

The prosecutor targeted by the man was not named in court papers, but was identified as Victim 1. Court papers indicate the plot was an outgrowth of a drug case.
